about us

Welcome to the BiRequest website!

BiRequest has its roots in NYC's queer, fluid and bisexual organizing circles dating back to the late 1980s and early 90s. Proudly stated, Dr. Fritz Klein, noted bisexual advocate and psychotherapist was a frequent member in the early days.

After a long stint sharing space with Identity House on West 14th Street, BiRequest moved the regular discussion meetings back to the NYC LGBT Community Center in 2005. In 2014 we added a monthly social gathering at Madame X that continues on with new faces every month.

Starting in 2016, we modified our discussion schedule, alternating nights to the first Monday and third Thursdays of each month to accomodate university student class schedules.

With the start of 2017, we introduced two additional offerings. "Bi My Side" is a discussion group for spouses and partners where one member of each couple represented is bi+. Secondly, we're taking on the re-animation of BiRequest's historical antecedent, "The Sunday Group," a gathering for conducting BiRequest business and for organizing as Bi+ leaders.

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of many good bi folk since January 1994, BiRequest is a bisexual social discussion group serving the New York City metropolitan area. We provide a safe space for bisexuals and bi-friendlies to gather and discuss issues of importance to us.

Our meetings are open to all members of the Bi+ community, as well as bi-friendly and bi-allied folks, of any age, race, gender, ability; likewise for affectional or relational, sexual or spiritual orientations. Ours is a tiny example of the rainbow; a safe space to share your perspective and insights into all things Bi.

After the discussion group session, at 8 o'clock we go to dinner at a nearby, reasonably-priced restaurant for socializing and more informal discussion.

We also have occasional social events such as movie nights, parties, and much more. Join us for a meeting or event and find the community you've been looking for!
